What’s inside

  • Personal insight into what happens behind closed doors in a controlling family
  • Clear explanations of conditional love, gaslighting, guilt, isolation, and emotional control
  • Practical guidance on boundaries, contact options, safety, grief, and self-trust
  • Support for adult children who still feel responsible for their mother’s moods and reactions

The workbook

Includes an 82-page guided workbook with eight practical modules covering guilt, boundaries, identity, relationships, self-trust, and recovery

What it doesn’t do

It doesn’t tell you that no contact is the only answer. Some readers stay in contact, depend on their mother financially, share family responsibilities, or can’t safely put distance between themselves and her yet. The book is there to help you see your own situation clearly and weigh your options without anyone pushing you.

Why I wrote it

My experiences eventually became Leaving Hell. It is a memoir and a practical recovery guide in one. The memoir part is my story. The practical part explains how controlling and emotionally abusive patterns take hold, what they do to an adult life, and why leaving doesn’t switch the conditioning off.

I made this website and wrote Leaving Hell because recognition changed what was possible for me.
